New Delhi: Considering the present scenario where groundwater stock is on verge of fast depletion, world should be ready to live on imported water by 2050. As per media reports, water table may reduce to 3,120 litres per day a person 34 years from now.

As per the figures from a Central Ground Water Board (CGWB) study, ground water stock may reduce to 22 percent by 2050 considering the level of exploitation presently.

Talking about India in particular, country is suffering from droughts for the past two years and vanishing rainwater harvesting with ponds, lakes and wells, poor awareness, and reduced green cover, further makes the situation difficult.
