Mehedi Hasan got off to a possible dream debut having put Bangladesh in a strong position at the end of the first day’s play against England.
The 18-year-old’s five-wicket haul restricted the visitors to 258/7 at stumps on Day 1 with Moeen Ali (68), Jonny Bairstow (52) and Joe Root (40) the top scorers for the visitors.
England, who were once 21/3, recovered well to cross the 250-run mark on 1st day's play.
Mehedi spun had spun his web around England batsmen who failed to read him. The Chittagong pitch, which is supposed to help spinners more, is expected to trouble batsman against slow bowling throughout the match.
Fellow spinner, Shakib Al Hasan also picked up two wickets for Bangladesh.
