Former India captain and head of National Cricket Academy (NCA) Rahul Dravid will be the coach for India on the tour of Sri Lanka. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly confirmed Dravid’s appointment as the coach for the limited-overs series in Sri Lanka as the senior team comprising of India captain Virat Kohli will be busy competing in the five-match Test series against England.

“Rahul Dravid will be the coach for the India tour to Sri Lanka,” Ganguly was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.


The Indian squad for the tour of Sri Lanka are already in Mumbai for their 14-days institutional quarantine.



Former India captain Ganguly added that although the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 is set to resume in UAE in September, but the BCCI had also written to Indian government for tax exemption for the 2021 T20 World Cup and a final decision on hosting it in India or UAE will be taken soon.


“We have written to Indian government on tax exemption. We are awaiting for their response. We still have time. The board will take decision on it soon,” Ganguly added.


Earlier, the All-India Senior Selection Committee met on Thursday and picked the squad for the India tour of Sri Lanka scheduled in the month of July. Shikhar Dhawan was made the captain of the side with Bhuvneshwar Kumar appointed as his deputy for the upcoming tour. Ruturaj Gaikwad got his maiden call up for the national team owing to his brilliant show with the bat for Chennai Super Kings at the top of the order.
