Trying to keep up with the pressure put forth by the spin duo of Ashwin and Jadeja as the Lankans slowly bring up the 300 runs, for the first time in this series. There is some hope among the fans, among the players now. The players departed for lunch

Ashwin and Jadeja struck back to take two early wickets thereby shifting the momentum back to the visitors. Pushpakumara departed by, trying to play a reverse sweep to an Ashwin delivery. And then it was skipper Dinesh Chandimal, dismissed by Jadeja. Mathews stepped in next and Karunaratne still holds all the hope for the hosts.
