Put into bat by visiting Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) captain Steve Smith, the home side started off to a bad start. But Pandey played a a good hand to give KKR's innings some respectability.

But during his 32-ball 37-run knock, the 27-year-old played an outlandish looking evasive shot, which many would assumed the batsman didn't want to play.

It happened off the third ball of the ninth over, bowled by Shardul Thakur. The RPS bowler disguised, and produced a brilliant slower bowler, which Pandey wanted to leave.

But the ball played the bat, literally, and it deflected to third man for a single.
