After winning the Test and the T20 series, Team India defeated England in the first of three ODIs at the Maharashtra Cricket Association stadium in Pune to take 1-0 lead in the series.

Earlier, Shikhar Dhawan smashed 98, while skipper Virat Kohli hit 56 to contribute to India's cause. For England, Ben Stokes bagged three wickets while Mark Wood picked 2.

    England removes India skipper Virat Kohli (56) and Shreyas Iyer (6) in quick sucession to bounce back in the game. However, Shikhar Dhawan is still going strong and nearing the century mark to make sure that India set a challenging target for the visitors.

    Shikhar Dhawan completes his fifty with a slog-swept massive six off leg-spinner Adil Rashid. Then survives a close leg-before appeal off the next ball while Kohli smashes fifth ball off the over down the ground for four. India reach 109/1 in 24 overs.
