Indian cricketer, Prithvi Shaw's video of getting into a tussle with fans is being surfaced on social media. The reports suggest that Shaw got into a fight with two individuals who allegedly asked for him for a selfie and when he denied them, things got ugly. Mumbai Police registered a complaint against eight people, out of which one has been identified as Sapna Gill.
Shaw was attacked by Sapna with her friend in the Santa Cruz area, Mumbai. Sapna Gill is a social media influencer and actress, who has worked in Bhojpuri cinema with industry superstars like Ravi Kishan and Dinesh Lal Yadav. She has over 2 lakh followers on Instagram and was born in Chandigarh. Sapna often shares content which includes dance reels, fashion pictures, and more on social media platforms. She has starred in movies such as 'Kashi Amarnath', 'Nirhua Chalal London' and, most recently, 'Mera Watan', released in 2021.
It is being reported that Gill and her friends asked Prithvi Shaw for a selfie. After a while, Shaw did not oblige and a security guard at the venue asked Gill and her friends to leave the venue, as per the police. The incident took place at a five-star hotel and later when Shaw left the property, he was chased down by Sapna and her friend with some other people as well.
Shaw who was travelling with his friend was intercepted at a traffic signal near Oshiwara. They also demanded Rs 50,000, threatening to file a fake police case. Shaw was also manhandled by Gill. The cricketer was shifted to another car while Yadav and others drove his vehicle to Oshiwara. Yadav observed that three motorcycles and a white-coloured car were chasing their vehicle. At 4 AM, the chasers attacked his car while it was taking a U-Turn near a petrol pump on Link Road. Thakur was one of the persons chasing the vehicle and attacked its windshield with a bat.
The six persons on motorcycles along with Gill and Thakur, who were both sitting in a car, abused Yadav and his friends. Following this, Yadav took the car to Oshiwara police station. Thakur, who was one of them, broke the rear windshield of the car with the baseball bat. The eight accused followed Yadav to the station and threatened him to pay Rs50,000 to settle the issue or else she would lodge a fake police complaint against them, as per police. Following this, Yadav filed a complaint against the accused. Oshiwara Police registered a case under sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 148 (rioting), 384 (extortion), 506 (criminal intimidation) and others of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) based on the complaint.
