Vijay Hazare Trophy: Fire breaks out at Jharkhand team`s hotel; MS Dhoni was inside during incident
Jharkhand team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was staying in the hotel along with the team when fire broke out.
New Delhi: The Vijay Hazare Trophy semi-final clash between Jharkhand and Bengal was scheduled to take place at Palam Stadium before the Jharkahnd team hotel, situated in Dwarka caught fire and the team had to be rescued.
Jharkhand team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni along with the rest of players and staff were staying in the hotel along with the team when fire broke out but ANI later confirmed that all of them were evacuated safely.
The fire had broken out in store in Dwarka's Welcome hotel complex.
New agency PTI has claimed that the semi-final match has been postponed but an official statement is yet to be made.
Dhoni and his team were preparing to leave just when the fire broke out. Jharkhand team was staying at the 7th floor.
Jharkhand had made it into the semifinal by defeating Vidarbha by six wickets. Chasing a total of 159 in 50 overs, Dhoni and Ishank Jaggi finished off the things as the former Indian skipper hit the last ball for a six to set a clash against Bengal.
It remains to be seen when will the match be played after today's horrific incident.
