New Delhi: The third Test between India and Australia at Ranchi has been going Australia's way after Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell put on a terrific partnership on Day 1 to guide the visitors to 299/4 at stumps on Day 1. The first delivery of Day 2, however, produced a stunning sceneray after Umesh Yadav broke Maxwell's bat on the first delivery of the day.

Maxwell, who also plays for Kings XI Punjab, later brought his maiden Test hundred after facing 180 deliveries as Australia were 328/4 after 100 overs were bowled in the innings.


Earlier in Ranchi Test, Steve Smith continued to be India's nemesis by scoring a superb century as Australia recovered from early setbacks to reach a comfortable total on the first day of the third cricket Test.


Comeback-man Glenn Maxwell (82 batting) also played his role to perfection with a solid effort, adding 159 runs in 47.4 overs for the fifth wicket.


Maxwell's proficiency against spin also helped Smith to play his own game. Incidentally, this was Maxwell's first 50 plus score in Test cricket.
