He advised against projecting the notion that the prevailing period was the "worst" in history while underlining the extent of "comfort and convenience" enjoyed by people.

He was speaking at a session at the ongoing Jaipur Literature Festival here.

"Do not project that these are the worst times because we are living in the best of the times in the history of the humanity. The level of comfort and convenience you have today was never there in the history of humanity. There are more things to do, but that is a different matter," he said.

The writer who was talking about his bestselling book "Inner Engineering: A Yogi's Guide to Joy", said that democracy was the "most beautiful" thing in the history of mankind.

"The most beautiful thing about the democracy is the change of power, which happens without bloodshed. Whenever power has changed in the past, people were slaughtered and this is for the first time in the history of humanity that power is changing without any bloodshed," he said.

However, he warned violence would be inevitable if the values of democracy are taken away.

"In a democracy, sometimes you get somebody you like and sometimes you get somebody you do not like. This is democracy. You can elect the candidate of your choice and that too without bloodshed," he said.

The yogi also asked the audience to be aware of their "mortal" existence on the planet and asked them to make the most of it.

"This is our time on the planet but the question is whether we strive and do what we care for? It is our time but this not going to be our time always," he said.

In conversation with Sanjay Roy, one of the organisers of the festival, Sadhguru also elaborated on the 'Yogic Concept' and shared the incidents that made him take the spiritual path.
