Dikshit, a three-time chief minister of Delhi, said that the central leadership of Congress always "denied her big role in electoral campaigns".

The Congress veteran made these remarks in an interview to a news agency.

79-year-old Congress leader said that despite being named Congress' star campaigner in elections that came after the 2013 assembly polls, she was not given any big responsibility for canvassing.

Dikshit, however, said she had no regrets as she never complained about it.

"I do what I am told. I belong to Congress and the Congress is my party. I can do anything for Congress. They ignored me for years but I never complained," Dikshit added.

Sheila Dikshit, who has been very critical of Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken, also recalled how the latter came to her house after the party's 2015 electoral drubbing.

"Before this press conference, Maken came to my house three or four times, requesting me to join the media briefing," she said.

"There is no dilemma in my mind. We have to work for the Congress. I don't have personal issues with anyone. I went there to do something good for the party and the results were good too. But when elections were held they did not call me," Dikshit said.

Hitting out at Maken, she said, "In democratic politics, the most important thing is reaching out."

It is to be noted that despite differences Dikshit and Maken had addressed the joint press conference after the 2015 drubbing.

On former Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely return to the party-fold, Dikshit said, ''The one who has been with the ideology of Congress will always find it difficult to be in BJP. They are the stark opposite of what Congress is."

Lovely is believed to be a close aide of Dikshit.

Referring to question about the AAP government, Dikshit said, "Either you will see their advertisements or you'll see them talking about their work. But the ground reality is very different."

"The party did not fulfill its promise of providing free water and cheaper electricity to Delhi's citizens. Arvind Kejriwal has been exposed," she said.
