Ashish, son of former BSP MP Rakesh Pandey, was caught on camera threatening some people at the hotel using his licensed gun inside the premises of 5-star hotel in the national capital.

He was earlier on 20 October denied bail and sent to judicial custody. He had said that he was forced to go into hiding after a video of him went viral. A show cause notice was issued to the hotel for not informing the police, and the police also took suo moto action against Pandey.

After surrendering, Pandey justified his actions and said he used the gun for self defence. "I took the gun with me for safety. I didn't brandish it. It was hanging behind me all the time. I didn't even address that girl, she pushed me and made obscene hand gestures. I've faith in the judiciary and so I decided to surrender," he had said.

"I’m being projected like I’m a wanted terrorist and police across the nation is looking for me. Look Out Circular has been issued against me. If you check CCTV footage, you’ll find who went to ladies toilet that night and who threatened whom," Ashish said.

He was arrested on October 19 by the Delhi Police, minutes after he surrendered before a court in Delhi. The court, which allowed Ashish's plea for surrender, had granted 20 minutes to Delhi Police for interrogating him in connection with the case.
