New Delhi: Around 200 students of Rani Jhansi Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in Delhi's Tughlakabad were hospitalised after gas leakage near the school on Saturday.

The students were admitted to four different hospitals after they fell ill due to gas leakage from a depot in southeast Delhi's Tughlakabad area.


Speaking to news agency ANI, the vice principal said, "Some students complained of irritation in eyes and throat due to gas leak, following which they were admitted to the hospital."


The depot is located near a school in Railway Colony, Tughlakabad.


DCP (Southeast) Romil Baniya confirmed that no one was serious and situation was normal.


A call was received around 7:35 am about the gas leakage and seven fire-tenders were rushed to the spot, said a senior officer from Delhi Fire Services, adding that the source of leakage was not clear.


Police said that the students have been admitted to the hospital without giving further details.
