However, the Congress chief will have to spend more time in the hospital before she recovers fully, the doctors said.

"The health condition of Sonia Gandhi ... is stable. She is progressing well and may be discharged in a day or two," DS Rana, Chairman of Ganga Ram Hospital, said in a statement.

The 69-year-old Congress chief has not been keeping well for some time.

She was rushed to the hospital on August 3 last year after she suffered fever, dehydration and had a shoulder injury during a road show in Varanasi.

Sonia Gandhi later underwent a surgery on her left shoulder.

On November 29 too, Sonia Gandhi was hospitalised for two days due to viral fever
