Gaurav, who is the son of former Congress MLA Kanwar Karan Singh, said that he was scared after the incident due to which he had not filed a case earlier. After Gaurav recorded his statement, Karan Singh said that the family has full faith in the law of the land.

Gaurav in his statement said his female friend was throwing up in the women's washroom and he had gone to check on her when Ashish's women friends also came there and an argument ensued. Gaurav claimed that he and his friend came back to their table but since she kept crying due to the abuses hurled at her by Ashish's friends, the duo decided to leave.

However, the argument continued even after they came out of the hotel, following which Ashish got the gun from his BMW car and allegedly threatened the victims. A woman accompanying the accused abused the victims and called them "transgenders".

Police are suspecting that both parties involved in the scuffle were drunk at the time of the incident. The police have also held the hotel responsible for negligence. "No PCR call was made by any of the parties or even the hotel authorities. It is negligence on part of the hotel as something major could have happened. We are exploring legal options and will also inform our licensing branch that will see what action can be taken against the hotel," an officer privy to the probe said.

"No complaint was lodged by the victim and the hotel staff the same day. There is negligence on the part of the victim, the hotel authorities and the accused," police said. Officers also added that whether the accused was carrying a licensed weapon or not would be known once he was caught.
