NEW DELHI: Top Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorist Bilal Ahmad Kawa, suspected behind the Red Fort terror attack in 2000, has been arrested by authorities on Wednesday evening.

The 37-year-old terrorist was nabbed during a joint operation by the Special Cell of Delhi Police and Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).


Kawa was arrested from Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport at around 6 pm.


Authorities are currently questioning the suspected terrorist. 


 



On December 22, 2000, six terrorists stormed in to the Red Fort and opened indiscriminate firing on the guards of seventh battalion of Rajputana Rifles. Three people, including a civilian, were killed. 


Despite retaliation by the Army, the terrorists managed to flee through the Fort's rear wall.
