New Delhi: Railways ticket prices have shot through the roof this Diwali. If one travels without booking the ticket much in advance, one will have to shell out 3 to 5 times of the normal fare for the train journey.


On some routes, even the third-AC fare route has surpassed the rate of flight fares on the route.


For example: The price of ticket on Suvidha or special train from Bhopal to Delhi is Rs 1,045. The ticket price on the route has touched Rs 2,500.


Similarly, If one travels between Kolkata to Delhi by third AC, he or she will have to shell out Rs 7,185 for the 3rd AC fare and Rs 9,000 for the 2nd AC fare. The air fare ticket between Kolkate and Delhi is around Rs 5,000.


The normal time 3rd AC fare between Delhi to Chennai is Rs 2,000, which has shot up to Rs 7,185 for the 3rd AC. and to Rs 8,970 for the 2nd AC.


Similarly Chennai to Kolkat 3rd AC fare during the normal times is Rs 1,775, which has shot up to Rs 6,305 for the 3rd AC and Rs 7,800 for the 2nd AC
