MG Motor India, the British-Chinese automaker with 99 years of legacy has recently launched MG Comet EV in India at a starting price of Rs 7.98 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory). The MG Comet EV is the smallest and most affordable electric car in India, aimed to create a new segment of personal electric mobility in the country. It's also the second electric car from the automaker after the MG ZS EV, a mid-size electric car. With the launch of the MG Comet EV, the company aims to achieve 30 percent market share in the EV space this year, as mentioned by Rajeev Chaba, MD, MG Motor India. Idea Behind MG Comet EV


Rajeev Chaba, during an interaction with Zee News told that the MG Comet EV is based on the brand's global GSEV-platform-based, which is said to be the fastest selling EV platform to reach 1 million buyers. The MG Comet EV gets a new design language with a 2 door setup and a 4 seater cabin. As per him, the MG Comet EV aims to cater a new segment of personal clean mobility and the car is available for bookings already. The deliveries of the MG Comet EV are expected to begin from next month.


USP of MG Comet EV


The MG Comet EV, as per Rajeev Chaba, is a very unique product in the sense that it offers a tall boy design with high practicality for the Indian buyers, while being small enough to save space inside the garage. It can do 230 km of driving on a single charge and gets a wall mounted home charger that can charge the battery in 5 hours. It also gets various features like a dual connected screen with multiple connected car features and a new cabin design theme.  


Electric Vehicles In India


Talking on the electric vehicles in India, Rajeev Chaba said that since the time they launched the MG ZS EV in India, many things have changed. The infrastructure is more accessible, while people are more aware about the EVs in general. He further said that the learning of the MG ZS EV made the company to launch the MG Comet EV and he is anticipating the EV to rake some good sale numbers in India.
