Karnal, Sept 25: Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala today announced several new welfare schemes for farmers, rural women, artists and employees on the occasion of the 90th birth anniversary of former Deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal. Addressing a large public meeting here, Chautala announced the introduction of Devi Lal Jan Surksha Bima Yojna and community lavatory scheme for rural women. He also announced a bajra procurement scheme with a minimum support price of Rs 505 per quintal by the State Government and an innovative pension scheme for artists in recognition of their contribution towards enriching the cultural heritage of Haryana. He also announced financial assistance for goshalas in the State besides sanctioning financial assistance of Rs one lakh in case of death of a head of family, who was the sole breadwinner under the Devi Lal Jan Suraksha Bima Yojana. Chautala said employees who had completed three years of service would be regularised. The monthly pension scheme of Rs 500 for artists, he said, would cover those above 60 years of age. The beneficiaries included 90 singers, dancers, musicians and actors.
Paying rich tributes to his father Devi Lal, Chautala said that his birthday was being celebrated because of the 'awakening' that he had created among the masses.
He said that 50,000 more jobs would be created to check the problem of unemployment.
