London, Nov 09: Charlton beat Fulham 3-1 in Premiership to go fourth. Charlton beat Fulham 3-0 on Saturday (November 8) to move above their fellow Londoners into fourth place in the Premiership table.
Fulham had the best of the opening exchanges with Dean Kiely saving well from Louis Saha in the eighth minute. But it was Charlton who took the lead two minutes later when Graham Stuart slotted the ball home after Edwin Van Der Sar had parried Jonatan Johansson's shot. Midway through the first half, Kiely was nearly caught off his line with a dipping shot from 35 metres by Japanese World Cup star Junichi Inamoto.
Fulham pushed forward in search of an equaliser at the start of the second half. But in the 69th minute Charlton doubled their tally when Johansson fired home his first goal for eight months after substitute Jason Euell had chested the ball down. Charlton went 3-0 up seven minutes later when a terrible back-pass from Andy Melville to Van Der Sar let Johansson in for his second.

The Swede came close to a third when he just failed to connect after substitute Jason Euell's shot cannoned off the post in the 77th minute.

Kiely ensured there was no late comeback from Fulham when he saved well from Louis Saha four minutes later. Substitute Sean Davis finally got the ball in the net for Fulham a minute from regulation time after Sylvain Legwinksi's shot had rebound off both posts. But it was far two late for the visitors who have now lost two in a row after their shock win at Manchester United two weeks ago.
