Agra, Aug 11: BJP leader Vinay Katiyar today said talks were on for an amicable settlement of the Ram Temple issue. Stating that efforts were on make the talks successful, he told reporters here that another way to resolve the dispute was to enact legislation for construction of Ram Temple at Ayodhya.
The Uttar Pradesh BJP chief said though he had all respect for courts, matters of faith like the temple issue should be kept away from them.
Asserting that Ram Temple existed at Ayodhya, Katiyar said he favoured implementation of the law that status quo ante as on August 15, 1947 be maintained with regard to places of religious worship. On President A P J Abdul Kalam's visit to Gujarat, he said he would like him to visit Jammu and Kashmir and the North-East too.
To a question, he said BJP has no problems with Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati. Bureau Report
