New Delhi, June 12: Wipro Spectramind has emerged as the leading provider of third party ITES (call centre and business process outsourcing) services, according to a Nasscom study of the top 15 companies in this sector. WNS group and Daksh eServices are ranked second and third respectively. These rankings are based on the revenues for ’02-03 reported in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in the US (US GAAP). In ’01-02, Nasscom had initiated the exercise of introducing the top 10 third party call centre and business process outsourcing (BPO) players within the IT-enabled sector.

The objective was to give the same impetus to the ITES sector as to the IT software and services sector and at the same time provide detailed information to customers. Kiran Karnik, president of Nasscom, said, “The rankings are aimed at recognising the growth witnessed by third party players in the ITES-BPO sector.”
The ITES-BPO segment contributes 25% of the total information technology software and service exports from India and witnessed a growth of 59% to reach Rs 11,300 crore ($2.3bn) in ’02-03.
In order to provide further impetus to this sector, Nasscom is hosting its annual two-day ITES-BPO Strategy Summit from June 12-13, in Bangalore. Bureau Report
