Vij asks troops to counter attempts at infiltration
Srinagar, Oct 12: Complimenting troops for scuttling infiltration from across the Line of Control and curbing militancy in Kashmir, Chief of Army Staff, Gen N C Vij today instructed them to counter all such attempts ruthlessly.

All infiltration attempts must be countered ruthlessly, the Army chief told jawans and officers during a brief visit to Gurez in Baramulla district of north Kashmir.
He complimented the troops for successfully foiling an infiltration attempt in Kanzalwan forest last month when army troops killed 19 sneaking ultras and recovered a large cache of weapons and warlike equipment from the operational site. General Vij also appreciated the efforts of the troops in curbing militancy in the valley during September.
Earlier, General Vij who arrived here from Jammu was briefed by the General Officer Commanding of Srinagar-based 15 Corps Lieutenant General Nibhay Sharma about the operational and sadbhavana activities in the corps zone at Badami Bagh cantonment here. Before leaving for Delhi at the end of his three-day visit to the border State, the Army chief also went to sector headquarters of Rashtriya Rifles at Manasbal and met General Officer Commanding, Kilo Force and took stock of the situation in the hinterland.
