Bhubaneswar, June 07: AICC president Sonia Gandhi today lambasted the Vajpayee-led NDA government accusing it of indulging in divisive politics based on spreading hatred and
empty promises.
The Central government's four year rule is a saga of
slogans, corruption and misgovernance, she said while
addressing a huge rally held here.
Describing the scenario as dismal, Gandhi said industries were closing down and unemployment was on the rise creating a serious situation.
In Orissa, the drought-hit farmers were in great difficulty as they were not getting the due for whatever they produced while crop insurance funds were yet to be disbursed.
Though a coalition government, which was also part of the NDA government at the Centre, was ruling Orissa, the state had failed to extract any benefit from the Central government, she remarked.
AICC general secretary Kamal Nath, senior party leader Motilal Vohra, AICC secretary Chandan Bagchi, former Orissa chief ministers J.B.Patnaik, Hemananda Biswal and Giridhar Gamang, former Union ministers Srikant Jena and Kanhu Charan Lenka, PCC president Sarat Patnaik and leader of opposition Ramakanta Mishra were present at the rally.
