Programme: The Inside Story
Telecast: Sunday (Aug 3) at 9:30 pm Tuesday (Aug 5) at 4:30 pm

Believed to be a substitute to a wholesome meal, milk no longer remains so. With contaminated milk openly sold in the market, there is no guarantee whether the milk pouch arriving at your doorstep is pure or the one made out of Reetha and oil!

The Inside Story team traced the dairies which actually supply synthetic milk to vendors in Delhi, Bangalore and Haryana (Exclusive episode to be telecast on 3rd August, 2003 only on ZEE NEWS).

The team not only discovers such dairies, but has also got the synthetic milk made from there live on camera.

Samples of synthetic and real milk each were taken to a well known dairy - UP Parag. Irony is synthetic milk passed not one but six tests! Parag Dairy even vouched for the quality of the synthetic milk.

The Inside Story will be showing the process of synthetic milk being made and sample of synthetic milk clearing the tests in PARAG dairy. This episode highlights the consequent health hazards by consumption of synthetic milk. The preparation method of synthetic milk and their acumen was happily shared by the doodhwallahs with the Inside Story Team.

The secret lies in Reetha being mixed with various refined oils like Chambal, Helicopter and Dhara. This mixture is put into another mixture constituting water, sugar, salt and urea. The Lh value of each ingredient is measured. This mixture is then supplied to the cooperatives like Parag dairy.

What is remarkable is that this synthetic milk passes through all types of lacto-tests. Even the experts cannot differentiate between the pure and the synthetic milk. The Inside Story Team also saw people making synthetic milk with sunsilk shampoo. Almost every city`s milk supply is adulterated with caustic soda, starch or paper pulp. To make it frothy, the suppliers even add detergents like Ezee to this contaminated milk.

This cheap liquid poison is being made in various cities of UP like Ghaziabad, Mussoorie, Pilakhuwa, Hapur, Hafizpur, Simbholi, Garh and Muradnagar.

So think twice before you take that deadly sip...
