New Delhi, July 20: A book chronicling the history of Rashtrapati Bhavan from its early years was today released by President K R Narayanan and first lady Usha Narayanan. Releasing the book, 'Dome over India: The Rashtrapati Bhavan," by Aman Nath, the President said "Many more facts and insights about the building are now known. I hope that the contents of this book will please the readers and make them ponder over the transformation of this forbidding imperial palace into the abode." Commissioned by the President's Secretariat and published in association with the India book house, “The book will be an exhilarating experience for anyone interested in history, architecture and interiors," according to Padmini Mirchandani, publishing director of IBH.
The book focuses on the history of Rashtrapati Bhavan and those who lived, worked and visited it, including viceroys, heads of states, ambassadors, artists and freedom fighters, an IBH press release said here.
