Jaipur, Sept 24: Vishwa Hindu Parishad today warned the Centre that if it did not introduce a bill on Ram temple issue by October 15, its activists would hold a protest March from Lucknow to Ayodhya beginning October 17. "Two lakh activists would march from Lucknow, about 50,000 others would protest in Delhi," VHP vice-president Giriraj Kishore told a press conference here.
The excavation report at the site of Ram mandir, by Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) had carried enough evidence to support VHP's claim, Kishore said adding "hence, without wasting time in courts, the Vajpayee government should move a bill on it in the coming session of the Lok Sabha". "We will compel BJP to bring a legislation, otherwise we will choose such a government in the next election that would favour the bill and construction of the temple," he added.
Replying to a question, Kishore said, VHP would not hold any public meeting in the five states going for assembly polls, nor would there be any stress on `trishul diksha' (trident distribution) as 'Ram mandir nirman' (construction) was the goal for which `sankalp sutra' programme was underway. In reply to a question whether UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav had given a green signal to VHP's proposed March on October 17, he said, "We expect a positive response from Mulayam as he once told us that the temple would be constructed during his (Yadav's) tenure only."
"We anticipate that Mulayam would not stop such protest," he claimed.
When asked on the initiation of the ram temple construction at the disputed site, he said, "Let there be a legislation and congenial atmosphere, then it would be worked out." Bureau Report
