Tikrit, Nov 02: An explosive charge was discovered outside the main mosque in Tikrit, stronghold of Iraq`s ousted president Saddam Hussein, the provincial governor told reporters today.
Tikrit, Nov 02: An explosive charge was discovered outside the main mosque in Tikrit, stronghold of Iraq's ousted president Saddam Hussein, the provincial governor told reporters today.
Iraqi police found the charge late yesterday in front of the Al-Kabir mosque in Tikrit, 175 km north of Baghdad, said Salaheddin Governor Hussein Jassem Al-Jaburi.
The police, together with us forces, defused the bomb, he said.
"This is an act that aims at inciting confessional strife. This charge was placed by criminals who have sold their conscience," said Jaburi.
