In a reflective mood away from the din of electioneering, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Sunday said he felt it would have been good had he not joined politics and continued writing poems.
``It would have been good if I had continued with my poetry and not joined politics,`` Vajpayee said at the launch on Sunday evening of a new music album `Samvedana` featuring poems by him adding ``I will try again writing poems``.
The poems have been rendered by noted ghazal singer Jagjit Singh and picturised on actor Shahrukh Khan.
In an apparent reference to his long political career, Vajpayee said he felt bad over certain incidents but did not elaborate. In a lighter vein, Vajpayee spoke of forming a club of former prime ministers and said he would ask Shahrukh Khan to act as a prime minister which ``is a difficult task``.
Recalling his poem titled ``Jang na hone denge`` written decades back, Vajpayee said the conflict between the poet and the politician in him did occur and the poet lost out while the politician won.
``The poet lost but he is not dead. I will write again. But now it will be about life and not about death. It will be about present reality and not for dikhawa (show off)``, he said. The function at Siri Fort was attended by principal secretary to prime minister Brajesh Mishra and several distinguished personalities.
