Aug,09: Britain`s Jonathan Edwards is in danger of missing this month`s World Championship after injuring his ankle in Friday`s Norwich Union Grand Prix at Crystal Palace. Edwards, who was lying in second place to Leevan Sands of the Bahamas at the time, landed badly on his right ankle during the final phases of his fifth-round attempt.
The world record holder lay in the pit for several minutes in pain before being stretchered to the treatment room. "His right ankle was up like a balloon," said a trackside official. "The pain on Jonathan`s face was clear to see." Despite returning to his Croydon hotel on crutches, however, Edwards still has not ruled out chasing a third World gold medal when the Championships begin in three weeks` time.
