RS adjourns; members express anguish over opposition boycott
New Delhi, Aug 22: The month-long monsoon session of Rajya Sabha adjourned sine die today with chairman Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and several other members expressing anguish over opposition boycott of the house on the CVC issue.

The House adjourned after members bade farewell to eight
nominated and a lone DMK member from Pondicherry, who are
retiring during the intersession.
The members who are retiring after a six year term are
Kuldip Nayyar, Raja Ramanna, Shabana Azmi, C Narayana Reddy,
Kartarunavakarasu
would be retiring in early October.
The chairman said the rules committee of Rajya Sabha has accepted the recommendations of the group headed by senior Congress member Pranab Mukherjee which went into the issue of which state subjects could be discussed in Parliament.
The group was set up by the chairman after there was pandemonium and procedural wrangle on discussing in the house during the budget session the controversial manner the confidence motion on Mayawati government was passed in the up legislative assembly. Bureau Report
