A Central study team would soon visit Madhya Pradesh to assess the drought situation in response to the memorandum sent by the state government on November 12 this year seeking assistance of Rs 253 crore to tackle the drought situation.
State chief minister Digvijay Singh presided over a meeting of the cabinet sub-committee on drought relief in Madhya Pradesh to review drought situation in the state, an official release said on Saturday.
He directed prompt and effective action to meet the situation created by drought and drinking water crisis, it said adding, the sub-committee sanctioned Rs 3.06 crore for relief works and Rs 1.33 crore for drinking water arrangement in 36 tehsils of six drought affected districts.
