Ayodhya, May 18: At least 28 articles were found during excavation carried out in 12 trenches by the Archaeological Survey of India team in the acquired land here today, sources said. The ASI team has sought permission from the authorities to start digging in two trenches situated in north of make shift structure.
The court has directed team to carry out digging at a minimum distance of ten feet from the sanctum sanctorum, the sources said. Digging work in a trench has been suspended from today in which natural soil was found at the depth of 10 metres and 84 centimetres.
There were 28 articles found in digging of six trenches and at least 187 labourers including 45 Muslims were engaged in digging work, the sources said. They said three skeletons were carefully preserved by ASI team which were found in one trench on Friday last. Bureau Report
