New Delhi, Apr 14: After cricket, its cinema for Samsung. Samsung India today announced its association with the forthcoming IIFA awards, to be held in Johannesburg in May, where it will be the presenting sponsor. The 'best actor' as well as 'best actress' awards at the IIFA will carry the Samsung tag in addition to the branding for the awards themselves, which are being called the Samsung IIFA awards 2003, a senior company official said here.
"Cricket and cinema in India can be best described as a passion in this country and being the 'official sponsor of digital passion' it is but natural for us to be associated with both of these. While 'team Samsung' represents our successful association with cricket, the IIFA awards, which celebrate Indian cinema across the globe, are serving to provide us with an ideal launch platform for our association with cinema in India," director at Samsung India R Zutshi told a news agency. Samsung Electronics, the parent company of Samsung India, established its association with the world of cinema earlier this year through its global partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures' blockbuster matrix Franchise.
