The Congress and the Trinamool Congress on Saturday resolved the issue of sharing seats in 18 constituencies for the May 10 West Bengal Assembly elections.
The agreement for the allocation of seats for the 294-member State Assembly was reached at a meeting between AICC General Secretary (in charge of West Bengal) Kamal Nath and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee here.
The two parties reached an agreement on 276 seats last week.
Both Kamal Nath and Banerjee announced at a joint press conference that the two parties would fight unitedly to defeat the CPM-led Left Front.
As per the agreement, the Congress will contest 57 seats, while the Trinamool and its allies, including the JMM, would field candidates in 237 seats.
Asked whether all the sitting MLAs would be accommodated, Banerjee said it was for the Congress to decide.
