Islamabad, June 13: Pakistan's High Commissioner-designate to India Aziz Ahmad Khan today called on President Pervez Musharraf who expressed the hope that the career diplomat's vast experience would meet success in his new "highly important" assignment. During the meeting, Musharraf congratulated Khan on his new assignment and hoped Khan's vast experience and professionalism would meet success in his new "highly important assignment".

For his part, Khan said he would strive to live up to the trust reposed in him.

The High Commissioner-designate, who is expected to leave for New Delhi at the end of the month by road through Wagah, has been calling on senior government and Army officials to discuss nuances of his new posting.

A few days ago he called on the chairman of joint chiefs of staff committee and his namesake, Gen Aziz Khan. He was also expected to call on Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali.

The new Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan Shiv Shankar Menon was expected to arrive here in mid-July.
