New Delhi, May 24: US Secretary of State Colin Powell and British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw today spoke to External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh and congratulated him on his assumption of office. In the telephonic conversation this afternoon, Powell said he looked forward to working with Singh, an external affairs ministry spokesman said.
Singh recalled his meeting with Powell during the US leader's recent visit here when he called on Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
The External Affairs Minister expressed satisfaction at the "excellent" bilateral relations between India and the US and said that he looked forward to working with Powell for "further deepening and enhancing these relations".
During the conversation with straw, the two leaders reviewed bilateral relations as well as international issues, including the outcome of the recent CMAG meeting.
