Ranchi, Oct 15: Union Minister of State for Women and
Child Development Jaskaur Meena today said implementation of
women-oriented schemes in Jharkhand was not satisfactory.
"Apart from the Integrated Child Development scheme, the
state was unable to utilise rest of the schemes despite being
sanctioned nearly Rs 36 crore by the centre," she told newsmen
here.
Meena also lamented that the state could not use a single rupee from national women's fund since its creation nearly three years ago.
The Jharkhand government had, however, assured that it would send proposals to the centre by November end, she said.
The central minister, here in connection with programmes organised by the national women's commission, stressed the importance of literacy and education programmes which would help stop the people from harassing poor women accused of practicing witchcraft.
Referring to recent steps taken by the centre, she said, a committee has been set up to review and change rules for existing working women's hostels. Besides, a plan was afoot for providing insurance cover to Anganwadi workers on the lines of the one existing in Gujarat.
She also urged private companies to adopt districts in order to set up Anganwadis as done by a corporate company in four districts in Gujarat.
