Diplomats can buy or sell immovable property in India
Mumbai, Sept 26: Reserve Bank of India has decided to allow a foreign embassy diplomat or a consulate general to purchase or sell immovable property in India other than agricultural land, plantation property or a farm house subject to certain conditions.
Mumbai, Sept 26: Reserve Bank of India has decided to allow a foreign embassy diplomat or a consulate general to purchase or sell immovable property in India other than agricultural land, plantation property or a farm house subject to certain conditions.
The transaction has to be cleared by the Government of India - Ministry of External Affairs, and the consideration for acquisition of immovable property in India has to paid out of funds remitted from abroad through banking channel, RBI said in a notification.
