Dehradun, June 23: Uttaranchal Assembly was rocked by the unwed mother episode for the fifth consecutive day today forcing it to be adjourned for over an hour even as a BJP MLA claimed to have received death threats for raising the issue. BJP MLA, Ajay Bhatt, claimed he had received threats to his life for raising the issue and was feeling insecure.
He urged the speaker to provide adequate security to him. "Otherwise I will resign from the house," he said. Bhatt pointed out he never named former Uttaranchal revenue minister Harak Singh Rawat, who had to quit following the controversy, in the episode and said he had no personal enemity with him.
Even as Speaker Yashpal Arya asked the government to provide security to Bhatt, the opposition members trooped into the well demanding resignation of Chief Minister N D Tiwari over the issue.
For five minutes the slogan shouting continued which forced the speaker to adjourn the house for one and a half hour till 1230 hrs.
Uttaranchal revenue minister Harak Singh Rawat had earlier resigned amid allegations of his links with an unwed Mother from Assam who gave birth to a child. Bureau Report
