Jammu, Nov 16: Asserting that the private sector can play an important role in the development of education system in Jammu and Kashmir which is facing financial constraints,
state government said today it has opened doors for the sector to set up quality educational institutions in the state.
"We have opened doors for the private sector for setting up quality institutions for the speedy development of quality, technical and professional education in J&K, which is facing
the menace of militancy for more than a decade," Education Minister Abdul Rehman Veeri said at a Youth Talent Search Forum (YTSF) function here.
These institutes will have to ensure the reservation of seats for the meritorious students from the under privileged sections, he added.
The state government will support the private sector in providing better educational facilities to the people in neglected and remote areas, the minister said.
The state government is also contemplating to provide one higher secondary school in each revenue block but as the state is still facing financing constraint, it has to seek support from the private sector to achieve the goal, he added.
Veeri expressed disappointment over the lower growth rate in the literacy level in the state which stands at the bottom of the list with only Jharkhand and Bihar below it. Bureau Report
