Melbourne, May 30: Australia's former world number one Karrie Webb has no interest in playing in a men's tournament as Sweden's Annika Sorenstam did last week.
Webb released a statement on Friday after Tony Roosenburg, director of the Australasian PGA and Heineken Classic tournaments, said last week he would pursue Webb and perhaps Sorenstam to play against the men.
"For the promoters of the Heineken Classic to now suggest that I'd be willing to accept an invitation to play in their event (with whom I have had no contact with to date) shows me that they are merely trying to gain free publicity for their event," Webb said.
"Regarding me playing in a men's PGA event, I have expressed my views many times during these past five months as something I simply choose not to pursue," the 28-year-old Florida resident added.

"I would like to think the challenges I already have are definitely hard enough." Roosenburg had told The Age newspaper: "It's not very popular with the (Australasian) PGA ... but we have to survive as promoters and this is a funny gimmick that would be really popular."

Sorenstam, 32, became the first female player to compete on the U.S. PGA Tour for 58 years when she took part in the Colonial tournament at Fort Worth, Texas. The world's leading female golfer missed the halfway cut on May 23 after rounds of 71 and 74.
