Mumbai, Apr 29: Godrej Consumer Products Ltd. (GCPL) has posted a net profit after tax of 192.20 million rupees for the quarter ended March 31, 2004 as compared to 119.90 million rupees for the quarter ended March 31, 2003. Total Income (net of excise) has increased from 1086.20 million rupees in MQ-03 to 1222.70 million rupees in the quarter ended March 31, 2004, the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The company has posted a net profit after tax of 648.40 million rupees for the year ended March 31, 2004 as compared to 535.60 million rupees for the year ended March 31, 2003. Total Income (net of excise) has increased from 4774.10 million rupees in FY-03 to 4927.10 million rupees in the year ended March 31, 2004. The Board of Directors has recommended a fourth interim dividend @3 rupees per share (75%) for the year ended March 31, 2004. Commenting on the Results, Adi Godrej, chairman & managing director, GCPL said, "Our results are a reflection of the healthy macro economic growth in the economy. During the year GCPL's performance in the Toilet Soaps category continued to be far superior to that of the sector. The Himachal Pradesh manufacturing unit has enabled us to expand capacities and further drive growth.
In the Personal Care segment we have taken some corrective measures and introduced new products, both of which are expected to strengthen the Company's competitive position. Going forward, I remain confident of GCPL's ability to continue to deliver robust operating and financial performance".
