Seoul, July 08: South Korea's Hyundai Motor Co said on Tuesday it plans to recall 277,455 compact cars and sport utility vehicles sold domestically for free repair over problems related to engines and other parts. The move involves some of its Avante XD and Tuscani compact models, which are due to be recalled because of a defect related to their engines.

The recall also includes some sport utility vehicles, such as the Santa Fe and Trajet models, in order to replace parts related its exhaust system, the Ministry of Construction and Transportation said in a statement.
"Hyundai voluntarily decided to recall them to improve its image as those problems may be reported when the vehicles are used for more than 10 years or so," the ministry statement said, without elaborating. Bureau Report
