Srinagar, July 12: The BSF today said intelligence inputs indicate a militant strike on Amarnath pilgrims but affirmed it was fully prepared to foil any such move. "There are intelligence reports that militants may try to strike on the yatra route. But we have put in adequate security arrangements to foil any such move," BSF DIG K Srinivasan told reporters near the cave shrine.

He said that five BSF battalions were deployed all along the route to provide security to pilgrims.

Besides sanitisation of the route, the BSF personnel were extending medical facilities to the pilgrims falling sick during the arduous yatra, the dig said.
Srinivasan said that his force had set up 12 medical camps with 40 para-medic staff, adding mobile ambulances were also placed at some places.

Dr Gopeshwar Singh, who heads one of the medical camps, said that the pilgrims generally complained of high altitude sicknesses like breathlessness, headache and vomiting.

Srinivasan said, "We are extending all possible help to the state government so that the yatris feel comfortable and their pilgrimage becomes meaningful."
