Lucknow, July 05: Former captain Kapil Dev on Thursday said the absence of seasoned speedster Javagal Srinath will definitely have an impact on the Indian team's performance during their tour of England. Kapil Dev, who was here to promote a television channel, said the team was bound to miss the experience of Srinath who recently announced his retirement from Test cricket.
Talking to reporters here, Kapil said that many fast bowlers had emerged in the cricketing scene during the last ten years and those playing for the country today had the potential of winning matches at international level.
Kapil denied having said that the members of the Indian team, including Sachin Tendulkar, laid more stress on individual performance.
"I merely said that it was better if the players lay stress on team performance. It was no good if the team lost a game despite good individual performances", he said.
On being asked about frequent changing of the opening pair in the Test side, he said it did not matter who opens the innings as long as the team won the matches. Bureau Report
