Pune, Aug 02: Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani today declared that Pakistan would be defeated in its proxy war against India even as he asserted that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir was gradually improving.
"Pakistan`s steps are weakening. There was a time when they used to recruit youth from Kashmir, train them, provide money and arms and send them across the border but today nobody goes from Kashmir," Advani told a rally of BJP workers here.
Advani said that Pakistan now had to collect people from all over, including Afghanistan and its own youth. "But I would like to tell Pakistan that they would be defeated in their proxy war against India."
He said that even as Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee offered hands of friendship to Pakistan during his visit to Jammu and Kashmir, security forces had simultaneously launched "Operation Sarp Vinash" during which 80 terrorist hide-outs were busted and many militants eliminated. About 200 modules of Pakistan ISI were also busted, he said.
He said that there was a "feel good" situation across the country, including Jammu and Kashmir. " A large number of tourists are visiting J&K though stray incidents do cause concern. The situation in Kashmir is gradually changing as is evident from the fact that 50,000 Kashmiri pandits visited of late the shrine of Khir Bhawani near Srinagar, he said.
Advani attributed the change of situation to the strong steps taken by security forces to curb terrorism.
