Nagpur, Dec 09: Maharashtra government today finally agreed to hand over the probe into the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam to CBI, Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, announced in the state legislative assembly. Replying to a marathon debate on the scam, Bhujbal, who also holds the home portfolio, told the lower house that it was decided to hand over the probe to CBI after Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde had consultations with the law and judiciary department. The state has already initiated the process, Bhujbal informed the lower house amidst thumping of desks and said necessary affidavits will be filed before the Mumbai High Court. The discussion was taken up by the house, as opposition leader Narayan Rane (Shiv Sena) urged the Speaker Arun Gujarathi to suspend the question hour and take up the issue. His plea was earlier rejected but later Gujarathi agreed to a two-and-half hour discussion. Bhujbal, on one hand, was all praise for the work done by Special Investigation Team probing the role of policemen alleged involved in the scam but on the other admitted that some `black sheep` in the department had brought shame to the police force in Mumbai in particular and Maharashtra in general.
