Bhind, Dec 03: A local Congress leader was today shot dead and a party candidate injured in violence that marred repolling in parts of Bhind and Morena districts of Madhya Pradesh. Police said Gopalpura Janapad, vice-chairman Kamal Singh Bhadoria, a Lieutanant of Congress candidate Satyadev Katare, was shot dead by unidentified assailants at Gyanpura village in Ater constituency in dacoity-infested Bhind district.

The attackers escaped after killing Bhadoria and a massive hunt has been launched to nab them, they said, adding security has been tightened in the area after the incident. With this, the toll in poll-related violence in the state rose to eight. Six people were killed, all in Bhind district, during the December 01 polling, while another person, injured in firing at Khurd, succumbed yesterday at a Gwalior hospital.

In Morena district, a Congress candidate was among four persons injured in clashes between BJP and Congress workers during repolling today.

Congress candiate Rajendra Singh Rathore was injured when BJP workers attacked him at Khadoli village in Sumawali area.

Supporters of BJP candidate Gajraj Singh from Sumawali constituency attacked Congress nominee Aidel Singh Kansana's followers injuring one. A large number of Congress workers rushed towards the house of the BJP candidate for retaliation but were stopped on the way by police personnel who fired two rounds in the air to disperse them, police said.

At Nayakpura village, Congress supporters attakced BJP workers Ramdeen Parmar and Gagnedra Parmar with lathis injuring them, police said. Bureau Report
