New Delhi, Sept 03: The frantic hunt for a Jaish-e-Mohammed militant, Rashid, ended for Delhi Police today after an arrested Jaish militant Noor Mohammed identified him as the second ultra killed alongwith Gazi Baba. Rashid, a close associate of JeM chief commander in India Ghazi Baba, was killed in an encounter with BSF in Srinagar.
Delhi Police, which arrested Noor and two others on August 30 night alongwith a large quantity of ammunition, including 10 grenades and one grenade launcher, had launched a frantic hunt for Rashid.
Noor, in his interrogation, had told the investigators that Rashid was an intermediary between him and Ghazi Baba and that he used to interact with the country's most wanted terrorist through the go-between. He used to take orders from the killed militant.
When the photographs of the second militant killed on August 30 were shown to Noor today, he identified him as Rashid, ending the Delhi Police trail to nab him.
Meanwhile, a team of Delhi Police team was rushing to Srinagar to carry out further investigation into the case and collect material about the arrested militants.
Delhi Police had claimed to have virtually destroyed a module of Jaish, planning "some spectacular strikes" in the capital, after arresting three persons including Noor, Pervez and Farooq Ahmed.
Their interrogation led to the gunning down of two militants -- Zahoor and Habibullah in Nizzamuddin area besides the arrest of two more associates from UP.
